Principle 6 – All processes require time
If you are new to chiropractic, you may have been lied to. You may have been told that the pain(s) you have been suffering with for years, will miraculously go away after a few adjustments. You may have been told the myth that once you start chiropractic care, you will have to go for the rest of your life. Some chiropractors have promoted the lie that adjustments are a better form of non-drug pain relief. If you have been told any of these things, I want to apologize to you. Here is the truth: It took time for your body to break down. It will take time for your body to heal. Time heals all subluxations.
Subluxations take time to form
The 1st subluxation happens at birth. Atlas, C1, subluxates during birth and creates chronic misalignment stress in the spine. Your innate intelligence is forced to compensate to these subluxations from birth. Over the course of your lifetime, these spinal misalignments cause breakdown and degeneration of the spine (spondylosis). The degeneration ends up having physiological effects over time as well, as your nervous system suffers interference to its communication with the body.
Time heals all subluxations
In this case, we have a 70 year old male who sought out our office because of debilitating back pain. He was referred by one of our long term clients. He worked in the trades for many years and the effects that work has had on his spine is evident. Due to the degeneration and condition of his spine, we initially recommended a 3 month care plan. We wanted to see if we could start the process and see where things would go. When there is so much degeneration, expectations for positive spinal change are low.
After the initial 3 month plan, we took x-rays and saw that there really wasn’t too much spinal change on x-ray. He was experiencing better quality of life (QOL) and was able to engage in more ADL’s. Because of his improvement, he decided to undertake another 3 month corrective care plan.
The final x-rays show continued improvement in alignment of his lumbar bones, as well as improved restoration of his nerve curve (lordosis). I am grateful he gave us a chance to show the importance of long term care when there has been long term subluxation degeneration of his spine. If he would’ve stopped after the initial care recommendation, he would never have realized the improvements to his spinal alignment and QOL.
Crock pot, not Microwave
Healing is a process. Healing takes time. In order to regain proper function, your body needs time to restore brain body connectivity. Medicine has led you to believe that results are immediate: the microwave effect. The problem is that nothing good comes from a microwave. Chiropractic is like a crock pot: slow simmering, delicious. When you give your body time to regain connection to its source (the brain), your innate intelligence is able to restore the function that has been lost.
